Dormitory Essentials

The basic philosophy of King’s Preparatory Academy discipline is one of education. It focuses on the growth and development of residents' potentialities through the encouragement of self-discipline and responsibility by fostering respect for the rights and privileges of others. Policies, rules, and regulations have been established for residence halls to help in maintaining an optimal living environment for residents. These are published both in the Code of Conduct and this document.

Failure to adhere to these policies can endanger your safety and the safety of others in the University community. Sanctions for various infractions are also listed in the Code of Conduct and range from an admonition of conduct to recommended dismissal from the King’s Preparatory Academy.

Quote:

A. Prohibitions: The following items/substances are not permitted on the grounds of KPA and therefore not permitted in the Residence Hall.

Illegal Substances/Drugs
Alcohol
Firearms and Weapons
Appliances as listed in the Student Code of Conduct
Pets

B. Guest Policy: All guests, at any time, are permitted only with the consent of Ko'oalu Hall’s Community Director. Guests are any person (including students) who are not currently assigned to the suite or building in which they are present. The host or hostess is responsible for seeing that his or her guest(s) follow all Academy and Residence Hall regulations and procedures. Each resident is personally responsible for the conduct of their guest while in the residence halls. The University reserves the right to request guests to leave at any time. Overnight guests of the same sex are permitted for a maximum stay of 3 nights with proper paperwork and approval from the Community Director.

Cohabitation is prohibited. Cohabitation exists when a person who is not assigned to a particular Residence Hall suite uses that suite as if he or she were living there.

C. Quiet Policy: Ko'oalu Hall operates under a 24-Hour Quiet Policy. Residents are expected to maintain a certain level of respect for their fellow residents and therefore should keep noise pollution to a reasonable medium. Parties are strictly prohibited and severity of consequences will be handled on a case by case basis.

Rules for Suite Creation:

All suites in Ko'oalu Hall are single bedrooms that contain a full bathroom.
Please ensure that all pictures are 415 x 234
Photos should be within reason. Students aren't likely to have things like a full jacuzzi in their rooms. Hotel suites are best as options for dorm rooms.
