Thick, white smoke curled from between Koi's lips as his head bobbed slowly to the heavy bass of the music echoing off the walls of the flow bowl he
and a couple of his close friends and classmates were partying inside of. The wide basin was full of KPA seniors, a bit of an "unofficial" last blast
before graduation. From where he was sitting on the edge of the bowl, the party wasn't ending any time soon. The end of the year coming quickly now
and it wasn't hard to see how hard kids were feeling the inevitable end. A celebration, on that fact alone, was order. But Koi was celebrating for a
couple of other reason. Beating Derrick Davidson's ass. Not getting locked up for beating Derrick Davidson's ass. Sending Derrick Davidson's pussy
ass running with his rat tail tucked between his legs. Yeah, all of that involved very unpleasant community service, no offers from scouts, Koi
wearing the cast on his arm that he'd be stuck in for another couple of weeks and his Moms and Pops refusing to talk to him without yelling since he'd
handed Derrick his ass, but it was worth it. It was worth not having a snake in his circle...and a queen in his hand.
He took another pull from the blunt in his hand before he handed it to one of his classmates he was sharing a smoke with, a smile breaking on his
lips. He leaned forward, his cast-less arm wrapping around Devyn's waist where she sat between his legs. Her smile matched his as she leaned into his
chest. His lips met her ear, her head leaning to the side as his lips lowered, grazing the skin there. Public displays of affection with his
motherfuckin' girlfriend. Koi still couldn't say, think, or hear that word without smirking in disbelief. He had a fucking girlfriend. Koi "Love
em' and leave em'" Kidd had a bae... and it was crazy to think how much he'd avoided...this. A "down ass" that had his back like his homie, fucked him
like a pornstar and loved him like his biggest fucking fan.
"You good...?" He started, his lips meeting her ear again. "...if you're bored, we can get out of here..." His words made both of them smile wider as
neither of them was ignorant to what his words really meant.
Life was good. So good in fact Devyn didn't even mind being surrounded by people she didn't too often fuck with. Koi wanted out. In the week or so
since fucking up Derrick, he'd been cooped up in his house recuperating, listening to his mom tell him how disappointed she was in him, and listening
to his dad bitch about what he did to his arm at the peak of offer season. It was a shitshsow. So they came here. A kind of 'end of the year' send off
for KPA Seniors. Boys Varsity teams were hosting and that's where they were now; listening to Koi's teammates fill him in on the things he'd missed.
Devyn could see why he wanted to get out of his room for a few hours and even though she was perfectly fine there, she wanted to make him happy.
Because she was happy. And life was so fucking good...for the most part.
The reason Devyn knew what Koi had been going through all week was because she'd been there. She and her aunt hadn't been seeing eye to eye lately.
After she and Koi's 'break up' Athena saw what happened to Devyn. She watched her break down and according to her she'd seen it before...with her
mother. But she was wrong. Koi wasn't her dad and she wasn't her mother and they were...happy. In the days since the fight, Devyn had been so happy.
She wasn't about to let Athena fuck that up so she hadn't really been home in the past few days, returning only when Athena wasn't home and only for a
few hours at a time. Koi always said he needed her to come back.
Devyn giggled a little as the arm around her waist tightened. Koi pulled her closer and she leaned into him, letting his lips meet her ear. They were
so cute it was almost sickening and she was sure every time they did something like this people were a little shocked before they remembered. Devyn
was his girlfriend now. Official and public. The thought alone still made her smile like an idiot...a smile that grew wider as he spoke. Why couldn't
he be good?
"Stop-," Devyn laughed a little as she turned more to face him, her lips meeting his in a quick peck. "I'm good, I'm with you." Devyn winked at him
before turning back to the crowd. The flow bowl had become a dance floor so obviously Miyu and Dhonny had disappeared to it ages ago. Devyn had
somewhere to go if she got bored, Koi didn't need to worry about her. He just needed to have fun.

If people had been watching he and Devyn since they'd made it officially, Koi was blind to it. Okay. He could admit that he saw the side-eyes he got
from jealous bitches and past fucks that weren't the one and the head shakes he got from niggas that he passed in the hall, sure that they felt like
Koi Kidd was a verified "dumb ass" for giving up the game for Devyn. And that shit was hilarious because if not Devyn, than nigga...who? Koi
was convinced, he had the baddest. Hands down. And another thing? Who the fuck cared what they thought? Sure, this new place wasn't...easy. He didn't
know what he was doing most of the damn time, he could admit that. Responsibility had never been his strong point and now he had a heart that he was
more than responsible for. It was his now. That shit was heavy...but not heavy enough to go back to where he was. Without her. He could learn
to be a better boyfriend. For her...he could. But being the old Koi he left on that hospital bed? Nah. That shit could miss him...
With a chuckle, he kissed Devyn's lips again before she turned around again, leaning against his chest as she watched their classmates dancing in the
center of the flow bowl. Koi knew Dhonny was somewhere with Miyu, doing the stupid shit they did when they got together on the dance floor. Miyu
dancin' like the Becky she swore she wasn't and Dhonny entertaining it.
"Still tryin' to get use to that, man." Koi's eyes connected with the boy he was sharing the blunt with, Frederic, one of the teammates who
he was cooler with. His eyes were on Devyn and Koi, a nod and a smile on his lips.
"You tamed a wild one, Dev." Koi eyes narrowed with annoyance as Frederic laughed, Koi's foot flying out and nearly catching his teammate's knee and
if he had been faster, he would crippled the little loose mouth.
"Hey! You already off the court, nigga! Don't kill it for the rest of us!" Frederic laughed again, passing the blunt to Devyn.
"And I would be nice as fuck to me if I were you! The team has a petition going around to get you back at prom and graduation. We heard fuckin'
Derrick up was a permanent ban, man." Frederic shook his head. It wasn't a surprise that most of Koi's team had his back. Alliances shifted when
Derrick left. There wasn't anyone left to shit talking Koi anymore. And anybody that still wanted to shit talk? They weren't crazy. One look at the
picture that was circulating of Derrick's face post "kicked ass" and the message was pretty clear.
"For real?" Koi said, his interest in the petition (if it even existed) barely there. He didn't care about that shit and the only reason why he
halfway cared about prom was leaning against his chest. Devyn.
"Hell yeah, man. The team wants you there. Especially prom. We're getting a party bus and everything. You wanna go, right?"
Devyn tried her damnedest not to grimace as Frederic spoke, mentioning how he was still trying to get used to "that". See, this was why she didn't
fuck with the team. Outside of all the shit they thought she didn't know they talked about her--about who she was fucking and what they would
do with such an opportunity, they had too many fucking opinions. This wasn't the first time Frederic had commented on she and Koi's relationship and
usually it was followed by a story about Koi fucking some rando that no one else could pull...Oop. And there it was. Did Devyn give a fuck how "wild"
Koi was before her? Hell, during her, when they were "homies". Devyn smirked, her eyes cutting to Frederic as she contemplated verbally handing him
his ass...would that ruin the fun?
As if he could sense her annoyance, Koi kicked at Frederic missing him by just a hair. Devyn gave a small giggle as Frederic kept talking. At least he
was passing. Dev took the blunt and pulled, letting the high settle in her chest before she started a slow french inhale. She knew she'd need that
second go around. What were they talking about now? A petition for prom? Ha. HA! An act of God wasn't going to help them get Koi to prom, let alone
some cute petition. But the idea was nice. Devyn did want to go and who else would she go with but Koi? Anyone else wouldn't have felt right...but
that was neither here nor there.
Koi had never mentioned it, probably because he knew they weren't going. Dev couldn't lie, it was disappointing. She wasn't going to fake like she
hadn't imagined what Koi asking her to prom would be like. She wasn't going to act like she didn't really want to go. But she was good. Like she said,
she was with him.
You wanna go right? Hm. Weird as it sounded, Devyn hadn't even thought about him wanting to go. Maybe he hadn't asked because he wasn't
interested. She turned to him again, passing the blunt and waiting for his answer to a question he probably wasn't going to answer before she showed
her interest.
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.

What was Frederic starting shit? Not that a question about Prom would ever be anything to expect confusion, annoyance and yes, possibly anger when
discussing it, but Koi’s situation was different. He’d nearly been expelled from KPA, forced to spend the rest of his high school career at the
public school on the other side of the island, which wouldn’t have really concerned him...had it not meant leaving Devyn. But that had all been
avoided...only because he’d agreed to “anger management, community service...and the loss of his participation in all remaining school
functions”. So, what part of that did Frederic and the rest of his team not get? Yeah, it was a nice gesture to see his team get together and try to
do something “nice” for him (although Koi was quite fucking sure their sudden unity had something to do with a shitload of derrick-guilt and dick
riding on their part). But there was nothing anyone could really do now. He’d fucked up in a lot of ways when it came to everything concerning
Devyn. And this wasn’t one thing he wanted to add to the list. Because he knew. He knew she wanted prom. Although they’d never discussed it and
she didn’t push it, Koi knew his girlfriend (wow) enough to know that it was on her mind, bumping around in the thoughts she believed she was making
peace by not sharing. She wanted to go...and he couldn’t...and he couldn’t see her face every time she was reminded that he’d ruined that
too.
“You know Lahainaluna, man. You really think she and the school’s governors are coming up off her decision?” He answered, only chuckling to keep
himself from grimacing. Obviously, they weren’t. Not even with the letter that his mother had written to them...on her own accord, though as he’d
never even mentioned caring about school functions enough to ask her to do that. He couldn’t imagine what she would’ve done if she knew Devyn
wanted to go. Well, if she knew that Koi THOUGHT Devyn wanted to go as even though he and Frederic were having this conversation, all she’d done was
turn to look at Koi, probably if only to hear his answer.
“I don’t even...yo, she hasn’t even said anything about it yet.” He said, nudging Devyn’s head with his cheek. That was her moment. Right in
front of Frederic. That was his chance to hear how she was really feeling about...everything. Because Devyn’s quiet never meant that she had nothing
to say.
She really hadn’t thought about him not being interested in prom. It was a normal high school thing to do at the end of your senior year right?
Everyone went to prom. But she probably should have considered it, even before he’d gotten the ban on school functions. Koi wasn’t really into
school functions to begin with. Outside of games, Koi had never been one for any of the dances...Devyn guessed she just figured prom was different.
Important. Special. It was to her. Or at least it might have been if she was going. She didn’t even want to imagine it without Koi. She
wouldn’t have any fun going without him and if Athena forced her, she’d probably end up ditching after 20 minutes and spending the night with Koi
anyway...ugh.
None of this mattered and she wished they could just change the subject. But they weren’t. Koi was turning the question on her. What was she
thinking? Plenty. That she had fucked up huge when she went over to Derrick’s and that he had fucked up huge for fighting him over it. That because
they’d both fucked up so huge she was going to miss out on something she’d been talking about since her freshman year...Not that they couldn’t
have their own little private prom. A night out followed by a night in a really nice hotel suite. It was just...it wouldn’t be the same...whatever.
She was being a little bitch and she didn’t want Koi to know she was in her emotions about it. In the grand scheme of things, it wouldn’t matter.
Devyn shrugged, thinking about her words and choosing very carefully which ones to speak, “I mean...does it matter? We can’t go.” She tried her
hardest to keep the disappointment out of her voice as she leaned away from Koi a little, raking a hand through her hair, pushing it to one side.
“I’m good on it.”
And she could be if she kept telling herself that.
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
Self-Love. Self-Care. Selfish.
And there it was. Everything she'd said with her silence, she'd just said with her words...except Koi was the only one who understood it. The
forced apathy in her voice as she told him that they couldn't even go to the prom anyway...that it didn't matter because of that. Because of
him. She wasn't good and Koi felt it with every word she'd said. He stared straight ahead in silence as Frederic filled it, giving his two
cents on everything they'd missed because prom wasn't their thing. Was that how he'd been before? So caught up on words that he couldn't really hear
what Devyn had been saying to him all along? They'd spent almost two years like that. Her telling him how much she fucking loved him in her actions,
in the love she made with him...in the way she gave him everything. And he'd spent almost two years ignoring it because he couldn't understand her. He
didn't know he even cared to try. But now he was hearing her loud and clear...and he was still fucking motionless, still letting her give him
everything.
"Yeah..." He interrupted Frederic, faking a laugh at whatever the dude had just said. "...we're gonna go get a drink, man. We'll catch up with you
later." Koi stood to his feet as he lightly shifted Devyn, signaling to her that they were leaving. He took the blunt from between her fingers and
handed it to Frederic, his hand wrapping around hers as he pulled her slowly away from the flow bowl, looking for a more secluded part of the skate
park. They walked in silence slowly, the quiet of their thoughts filling the air around them.
"When were you gonna tell me?" Koi asked, breaking the silence they'd made. His hand left hers as he wrapped his arm around her waist, bringing her
closer to his side.
"You know I saw right through what you said." He spoke softly, looking down at her. "So talk to me...for real this time."
Shit. He knew. She could hear it as he interrupted whatever rant Frederic was on about the two of them missing out because they were “too
cool for prom”. Devyn wasn’t sure when she’d said that shit, but she guessed it didn’t matter because she and Koi were going to talk about
what just happened. Her less than convincing charade about not caring about prom. Ugh! He had to know that was going to happen though? Did he think
she was going to put all her shit on the table in front of his friends? Nah. She was good. Especially in front of everyone else. She got enough side
eyes about her relationship at home with her aunt. She was not about to take it off some kid that talked too much. So they were walking away. Devyn
didn’t speak as she let Koi pull her along. A drink sounded good, but she was sure that wasn’t something they were actually going to get. When
were you going to tell me?
“I wasn’t.” She answered him quickly. “There’s nothing to tell, kid.” There wasn’t. They couldn’t go to prom. What good would him
knowing she wanted to go do? It didn’t change anything. But he apparently didn’t see it that way. He probed. He wanted her to talk to him “for
real”. Devyn sighed, stopping as she stepped in front of him, her arms going around his neck as she pulled his lips to hers. She let her kiss
linger, part of her hoping he would get so into it he’d forget what they were talking about...the other half of her knowing he wouldn’t. She
sighed as she pulled away.
“I wanted to go…-,” there she admitted it. She wanted to go to prom. Wanted. Past tense. Now that she knew he couldn’t go though, she wanted
to pretend it didn’t matter. Couldn’t they do that? Pretend that none of this shit mattered? Talk about something else. Anything else...or stop
talking all together. She was suddenly feeling like his suggestion to leave a while ago was a good one. “But I don’t want to go without you.
So...I’m good. For real.” Devyn smiled at him, her lips meeting his again. She didn’t want to talk about something that wasn’t
happening anymore.
“Can we be done with this now?”
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
Self-Love. Self-Care. Selfish.
I wasn't. Koi couldn't help the wrinkle in his brow at her answer. The hell did she mean she wasn't going to open her mouth about the way she
felt? Had she not just spent the better part of two years doing the same shit with him? They were over that now. Devyn didn't have to ignore what she
wanted because she wanted Koi more. That was the entire point of...everything they'd been through. The shit with Derrick. Taylor's conniving ass. The
fight and the subsequent bullshit that followed, which sadly included prom not being an option for him. At all. They couldn't go back into the cycle
of keeping silent. Even if there was nothing that could be done about the situation Koi'd found himself in, he still wanted to hear her out. She still
had a fucking voice.
"There wa-" He started before he made himself stop talking, especially when he heard the argue in his voice. There was nothing that he could say to
her in an argument that would turn out any better than if he talked it through.
"Babe..." He tried to talk again, but her arms went around his neck, pulling him into her, her lips touching his. He knew what she was doing.
Distracting him with the one thing that worked almost every time. Her sex. The one thing Koi never stopped wanting. Her lips tugged on his,
her tongue twisting between them. It was sexy, no doubt. And he probably would've done anything to keep going where that kiss usually was headed, but
he knew...what she was doing. And like he said, it worked almost every time.
Shaking his head, he drew back, listening to her sigh as she pulled away too. He cupped her face with his hand as he looked at her. And waited.
I wanted to go... That, he knew. She was a girl. It was her senior prom. What girl didn't want to get dressed to a fuckin' "T" and be a
princess for a night. Just one night. Of course she wanted to go. And The only thing in her way was...shit...nothing. Nothing was in her way.
Because Devyn COULD go. She didn't fight her "best" friend in the parking lot and nearly leave the nigga's brains in skid marks on the damn pavement.
That was him. He was banned from prom. And from what it sounded like, his problems were hers. She wasn't going...because he wasn't going.
Can we be done now? "No..." He said, shaking his head and pulling out of her embrace.
"We can't because this is bullshit. You wanna go. I want you to go. You shouldn't have to..." He sighed heavily as he debated even saying what almost
slipped from his mouth.
"You shouldn't have to miss out on something you obviously want to do because I fucked things up, bae. You need to go. I want you to go."
Andddd here it was. They were going to argue. Their first real argument since making it official. Sure they’d fought about mundane things; what to
watch at prime time, where they were going to eat, small stuff. Stuff that usually turned into a play fight that turned into something else.
She was fine with those fights. This one though? This one was one she really wasn’t trying to have with him, because she knew nothing was going to
come of it. The bottom line was he couldn’t go to prom. No amount of talking, or wishing, or any stupid petition was going to change that. So why
did they need to argue. She wasn’t going without him, he couldn’t go, therefore she wasn’t going.
“Come on Koi, damn!” His ‘no’ was weighted and she was already starting to get frustrated. “We didn’t come here to argue about prom.
We’re supposed to be having fun…” Devyn folded her arms across her chest as she took a step back from him. She didn’t want to fight! He got
enough of this stressful bullshit at home; they were supposed to be escaping that here. “I know you mean well babe, but we can drop this. I
don’t care about going to prom.”
Devyn shifted on her feet, heaving a sigh of aggravation as Koi again told her no, calling her on what he knew to be bullshit. It was. She did care
about prom, that was the main reason she wanted to stop talking about it. There was no sense in beating a dead horse and the more they did, the more
she had to think about it, and the more she had to think about it, the more disappointed she was she was going to miss it. Why couldn’t he just
chill?! You shouldn’t have to miss out...because I fucked up...Ohhh. That’s what this was. Guilt. He felt guilty about “taking” prom
from her. Like it was his fault she wasn’t going. It wasn’t.
“First of all, kid, don’t tell me what I need…” her voice softened as she unfolded her arms. She reached for him again, both of her hands
coming to his face so she could focus his attention. “You aren’t listening to me. I don’t want. To go to prom. Without you. That’s my choice
to make and I don’t want to go and that is not your fault.” Devyn smiled at him again. It was cute kind of, how broken up he was about not being
able to give her what she wanted. He wanted her to go because he thought it would make her happy. She knew it wouldn’t.
“Now…” Devyn’s smile turned smirk as her teeth caught her bottom lip. “If you’re really interested in what I need, I have a few
ideas that start with us getting out of here.” Her hands had slipped as she talked, down his neck, over his chest, resting at his belt buckle. She
wanted to make him stop talking about this. To do so, she was more than willing to keep his mouth busy another way.
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
Self-Love. Self-Care. Selfish.
He heard her. He heard the words that Devyn was saying. She didn't care about prom, she didn't give a shit about it...it didn't matter. Koi's
ears were wide open and he heard her...he just didn't believe her. He never would, not about this. The fact was that she wanted to go and he was the
only thing in her way when it came to actually getting what she wanted and...he hated it. He hated being the wall in front of the only thing she
wanted. He hated playing this part. He'd played it too long and it was just getting fucking old. Hearing her sacrifice and play it off like it was no
big damn deal was getting old. He loved her. He didn't want that to be her mantra. He didn't want every dream she fucking had to be dependent
on him. Like she was his fucking puppet...like she was...
Stop that shit. His thoughts broke up his inner monologue quicker than he could start it. He had to stop that. He had to stop comparing them.
She wasn't his mom and it was proven that he wasn't fucked up, asshole Shemar. He got that, too and he'd gotten to the point where he could remind
himself when shit got foggy in his head again. But the fact still remained, no matter what way she dressed it up, Koi was in the way of what Devyn
wanted...what she deserved. She deserved a night with a beautiful dress, her hair in curls...a smile on her face. A lasting memory. With or without
him.
Don't tell me what I need... He smirked as he closed his eyes against her touch, her hands touching his face. He felt the warmth in her
touch, in her voice. Even when she was being difficult, she still had a voice like the warmest day in KR. And she still...didn't want to go...without
him. No matter what. He opened his mouth to argue with her, his brows furrowing as he opened his eyes again...only to have them narrow at the look on
her face.
"I'm not droppin' the shit that e-" Words halted at her hands moving from his neck, to his chest...to his belt. She thought it was that easy, huh? It
kind of was...especially, how quickly he started losing thought, his head lowering again slowly as he pressed his lips against hers. A quick moan left
his throat as her tongue slipped between his lips, her kiss proving to be a worthy distraction from the conversation they'd just been having.
"You're...go...in...ta'prom." His words muffled as she kissed him harder at the sound of them.
He wasn’t dropping it that easy? Oh he thought he could hold out? Okay. They were going to play this game of chicken then and see how far they got
with it. Hell, she could see in the way he was looking at her that it wouldn’t be long before...yup. Devyn fought back a smile as Koi’s lips
touched hers and she immediately fell into his kiss. She moaned as he did, pulling her body closer to his as she rose on her toes. He wanted this. He
wanted her. And all she was trying to do here was give him what he wanted. Didn’t he get it? Neither one of them was happy away from each other.
What on Earth made him think she wanted to go to some school hosted “party” without him? How much fun did he really think she was going to have
talking to people that had done nothing but gossip and her for the past two years? Sure, Miyu would be there and Dhonny (with his lame new
girlfriend), ut what would prom be without Koi Kidd. She didn’t want to find out.
But Koi sure did. He tried speaking in between their kisses, but Devyn only pulled him closer. Gah! Couldn’t he just stop? She moaned again, hoping
to get him to focus on what was important. He had to know where this was going. All he needed to do was shut up and let it happen.
“Mmmm, yeah…-,” her lips twisted against his, “Only if you’re my date…-,” she heard herself giggle a bit, their kiss not slowing,
neither of them caring who might be seeing what was jumping off between them. Devyn’s hands had been busy; the kid’s belt was undone and her
fingers were playing at the button of his jeans. There was really only one question left between them and she broke their kiss to ask it.
“You taking me home or are we doing this here?”
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
Self-Love. Self-Care. Selfish.
Devyn's moan had every thought in Koi's mind about prom...or anything prom related evacuating and jumping the ship that was his brain. How the fuck
she did that, he would never know, but she was working her magic that night, her lips twisting in his as he moved his hands to her waist, lowering
them and grabbing what was his a little rougher than he honestly had to. But damn, baby was pushing buttons and damn if he wasn't responding every
fucking way she was telling him to.
Only if you're my date... A giggle followed words that should've been a joke, but they just...he couldn't explain it. It was almost like what
he knew was a sore spot for her was more than that for him. He just wanted her to...stop fucking with him the way she was. Shit. Another moan
caught his attention again, finally getting him into the kiss as much as she was trying to get him to be. His tongue twisted around hers, his hand
slipping lower as the other went back to her waist, his fingertips slipping between the gap between her thighs that he'd gladly take credit for...a
slow rub starting that would've been better in his bed...shit, in his car. He didn't give a fuck as long as they were horizontal instead of the
vertical they were at the moment. He broke the kiss, sucking her bottom lip as her hand played at the button of his jeans, his belt undone. The fuck
had she done that?
You taking me home...? As much as he knew the answer to that question and he knew his traitor ass lips were two seconds away from giving it,
he pulled away from her, his finger still playing between her thighs.
"That depends." He whispered, biting his lip. He lowered his face to hers again as he whispered...
"Are you going to prom?" Her sigh was louder this time. "We can do this all night, baby. Literally. But I'm not dropping it."
Now wasn’t this better than the chat they’d been having? Not talking had always been their solution to everything and right now it was coming
through again. Fuck prom. Missing it wasn’t going to be the end of her and she was sure Koi could plan a night to remember with just the two of
them. She wasn’t pressed. Honestly she wasn’t. If he would just drop the shit Devyn was sure it would simply fade from her thoughts and they would
never have to talk about it again. She loved him and she knew he meant well, but the first step to her getting over not going to prom was getting
under him...wasn’t that really the first step to everything with them?
She really just wanted him to get her away from this party so she didn’t end up on Worldstar somewhere doing all the nasty things she was thinking
about doing to him right now. Especially with his hand playing between her thighs. That depends… Devyn closed her eyes, letting the fire he was starting between her legs ignite as she wanted for him to tell her
what it would take to get him to take her home. She would do--the fuck?!
Devyn sighed again, her eyes snapping open as she pushed his hand away from her. Was he serious right now?! It was cute before, how much he cared
about knowing how she felt about this. Now? Now it was getting to be fuckcing annoying and he was fucking up her vibe. Her arms folded again and there
was distance between them now. Annoyance and irritation practically oozed out of her as she spoke.
“Are you taking me?”
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
Self-Love. Self-Care. Selfish.
Yeah, she was pissed. Top level pissed, actually as she pushed Koi's hand from her, pulling away from him. The way she crossed her arms across her
chest and stared told him that she was done playing and if what he thought was arguing before, he hadn't seen shit yet. He stood his ground and smiled
at her question. Now that she was done trying to distract him, he wondered if she was ready to really talk. To stop playing the game they use to play
by ignoring shit that was plain sight and take it head on. Like prom. Sure, it was trivial as fuck and they could've probably missed it altogether.
But, Koi saw the look on her face when Frederic mentioned it before. He saw how excited she'd been about the gala. He knew her. He was over her eating
her feelings for him.
"You know what? Yeah. I am gonna take you." He said, any trace of the smile he'd had earlier as gone.
"If it means giving you what you want. If it means you getting what you need this time instead of me? Fuck yeah. I'm taking you." He moved towards her
again, grabbing her arm as he pulled her into him, holding her.
"If it means that you don't have to change your plans because of me...I'll move mountains, baby." He whispered, kissing her forehead as he met her
eyes.
"So yeah, I'm taking you. I don't know how the fuck I'm doing it. But, I'm taking you..."
So there it was. The answer to his question in the form of a question. Devyn considered slapping the smirk off his face that appeared once she asked
it. Was he going to take her to prom? The answer was obviously no, so guess what her answer to him was...ugh! He was really starting to get on her
nerves with this bullshit. It was prom. A few hours with some classmates and a mediocre DJ. Why was he acting like her attendance was mandatory?! Yes,
she HAD wanted to go. She no longer wanted to go if he couldn’t take her so why were they still at this impasse? She would help him get over that
shit real quick. Was he taking her? Because he damn sure couldn’t make her go alone.
...Yeah. I’m gonna take you. Devyn heard herself scoff, her eyes rolling hard before they landed on him again and she deadpanned.
Now he was playing with her emotions? Was that really what he wanted to do wi--he was still talking. And he was doing it again. That thing that he did
when he was done fighting with her and he wanted her to stop being such a bitch. Devyn felt her expression soften as he told her he wanted to give her
what she wanted. That he was more interested in what she needed than whatever was in their way. Devyn felt her face go hot, a reluctant smile taking
her lips as he uncrossed her arms, pulling her into him before his arm wrapped around her waist.
He was going to move mountains for her. Devyn giggled as he kissed her forehead. Fight over. The kid was taking her to prom. She looked up at him, her
lips meeting his chin briefly before her arms wrapped around his waist in a hug and she rested her head on his chest.
“I love you.”
I'm taking my time.
I'm doing it right.
