He was still holding her. The night had passed and she was still in his arms, her breathing steady and slow...which was good considering
she'd tossed and turned the first hour, Koi's leg going over both of hers, his body cocooning her. She'd exhaled and fallen off to sleep and she
hadn't moved since. Not when he got up to eat the last of her mac n' cheese. Not when he got up again to go get them breakfast from the Commons. It'd
gotten cold as it sat on his side table. He'd expected her to be awake but she was still where he'd left her...on her side, her body molded to the
shape of his. So, he did what he knew he needed to do. He slid under the covers next to her, arm wrapping around her waist as his chest pressed
against her back. He couldn't help looking at her sleep, her side rising and falling. She looked like she hadn't slept like this in awhile...and he
knew that everything they'd talked through the night before had been the cause of it.
And Koi was relieved. Because maybe, if she could finally sleep like this? Maybe the destruction his decisions and her dealing with the aftermath of
them...maybe it was resolved. Maybe they could move forward and...well, shit was never going to be the way it was. He wasn't the same Koi. She wasn't
the same Devyn. Maybe they could be whatever the were now?
She shifted beside him, his arm tightening around her waist like it had way more times than he could count. He smiled a little, his eyes still closed
to the light of the morning. The memories weren't all good, but them like this? This was one he couldn't forget. Her pressed against him, her fingers
intertwining with the ones that were pressed against her stomach. His arm closing tighter around her, a greeting on his lips.
"Morning, hips..." He whispered next to her ear, nuzzling her neck as he felt her shift beside him.
